Putin: We are cooperating with Washington on Syria despite many differences between us
Russia's President Vladimir Putin stressed that his country is cooperating with the United States on resolving the Syrian critical situation, regardless of the existence of many differences between them on more than one issue.
"I have stressed many differences between us on global issues and the resolution of certain critical conditions," Putin said in a statement made during his participation in the North Pole Forum in the Russian city of St. Petersburg.
"But there are also areas where there are components that will help us, no matter how different our positions are in resolving the critical situation in Syria, but cooperation is present on that issue," Putin said.
Putin stressed the readiness of the Russian Federation for dialogue with the United States of America on the question of disarmament, but not to change the reference to equality.
The president of the Russian Federation, like Donald Trump, has been subjected to a sharp campaign against him in the United States, which transcends an unprecedented political divide.
"I do not fully protect President Trump, and we have a lot of differences with him. Several sanctions have been imposed on the Russian Federation by his administration, which we absolutely reject and will not accept in any way."
"But we will be happy to resume the comprehensive talks between the Russian Federation and America on the basis of equality, including on disarmament issues and other issues of concern to us and humanity as a whole, and we are ready for that," Putin said.
